OUR STORY

Carter’s Towing Service is a family-owned business built on decades of experience and dedication to quality service.

The Carter family’s journey in the towing industry began in 1962, when Dennis Carter’s father entered the business. He later co-owned Brown and Carter’s Edgewood American Service Station in Roanoke, where Dennis, and his brother Donald,  grew up as second-generation operators serving the Roanoke and Salem areas. After their father retired in 1992, Dennis carried on the family tradition by founding Carter’s Towing Service in 1993.

Dennis has continually advanced his expertise through extensive industry training. In recognition of his skill and commitment, he was named a Top Ten WreckMaster in 2000, selected from more than 10,000 certified operators worldwide.

Donald began working part-time with Dennis in 1985 and joined the business full-time in 1993. In 2019, Dennis' son started fulltime work as a mechanic.

Carter’s operates as a full-service garage. Dennis, Donald, and Evan are experienced mechanics and highly skilled welders, ready to assist with specialized projects and repairs.

From the very beginning, Dennis and Donald have believed in one guiding principle: treat every customer with fairness, courtesy, and respect. This commitment has earned them a loyal client base who know Carter’s Towing Service is just a phone call away whenever they need reliable help.
